Photographer, Chris Humphreys "A great deal of it had already been written," explains Crawford. "But after Louisville won the title, we had to go back and weave some details back into the book. Pitino wrote a lot in some parts of the book while others I did from 90 minute conversations we would try to schedule. After Louisville won the title, the rest of the book was written on the run as Pitino was on the move celebrating. This includes a time where he was faxing me pages from the Bahamas because he was traveling with his daughter for her birthday. One conversation sticks with me though. He has made some hard decisions along the way. He enjoys what he does, and that is often the difference between those who succeed, and those who don't. Crawford has spent nearly his entire career covering the news in a variety of ways. Some of those decisions may have felt they were going in the wrong direction, down a one-way street. But perhaps Denny Crum knew Crawford's career was on the right road early on when he looked back and said, "We're fne, that's just for the tourists". w w w. v o i c e - t r i b u n e . c o m | The Voice oF LouisviLLe 45
