Q&A; Physicians & sPas kelli campbell josePh's salon and sPa Joseph's has been in business for over 30 years and continues to thrive in a competitive industry. share with us the secrets to your success. All systems revolve around making Joseph's the very best place for staff and client. We strive to help our staff grow into successful people that become their best both professionally and personally. We create a culture that has a main focus of giving the client an amazing and personalized experience and not just a great service, but a moment away from the world - a place they can trust and consistently deliver what they need every time. Joseph's is an aveda concept salon and spa. what does this mean for your clientele? We are an Aveda Lifestyle Salon/Spa - this means we have partnered with an amazing beauty company that has high integrity both in product performance and its dedication to being all natural environmental friendly. Aveda is truly a part of who we are and they treat us with high regard and want us to be the very best. They support us through education and give us innovative business perspectives. what are some of the styles and trends we can expect to see this fall? We are defnitely seeing more 'Fixed Hair' on the runway this season – meaning, styles that are more ladylike and sophisticated. We think this will translate to real women in a few ways: · Long Hair – we will see pulled back into either sleek and straight ponytails with middle parts or pulled to the side into a clean braid. · Bobs – we are seeing clean trends in both color and texture. Warm blondes and chestnut hues are making a comeback into sleek short cuts. · Updos – these are in almost year-round. We anticipate clean volume distributed throughout classic updos. No more Top Knots, but an emergence of the French twist or classic bun. · Pixie Cut – this is a great fxed cut for an edgy yet ladylike look this fall. Keep a bit more hair around the ears to maintain femininity. to stay on the cutting edge of the latest styles and cuts can be a full-time Job. how do you manage over 80 employees to do so? can you give us some tips for someone who is looking for a new hairstylist yet uncertain of the best approach to finding the best match? We have some amazing systems. Our educational program is fantastic - we offer teaching programs for our new staff on a daily or weekly basis, seasonal trend education, and at least twice a year we bring in or travel to an internationally known artist for education. We also have found technology helps keep us connected both internally - with 90 employees - and globally. We have about 20 iPads we use to help us stay on top of everything. Finding the perfect stylist can be a challenge. The task of fnding that perfect connection both technically and personally can be exhausting. We try to ask the right questions: What was your hair like when you most loved it? or On a scale from 1-10 how much change are you looking for? It is not easy to communicate what you want about yourself so we suggest coming with a couple of strong ideas and pictures to help you express them. located at 3938 Dutchmans lane | 502.897.5369 FA L L 2 0 1 3 w w w. v o i c e - t r i b u n e . c o m | The Voice oF LouisviLLe 65
